It’s now been three weeks since the country went into a nationwide Alert Level 4 lockdown after the reporting of a community case of COVID. While wider New Zealand has since shifted and is now at Alert Level 2, Auckland is at Alert Level 4 – and will until the Government reviews on 13 September 2021.

We continue to appreciate your patience as we remain open for business as usual and we are doing the best we can to support our clients during these challenging times. Please contact us by email or call (09) 526 5216 for any further information or enquiries. More information and key contacts for enquiries are displayed below. A guidance for clients, suppliers and contractors visiting the lab is also available below.

Monday, 30 August 2021

With New Zealand remaining in full lockdown until midnight Tuesday, LABTEC has remained open to support our clients operating in 'essential services. Please contact us by email or call (09) 526 5216 if you are unsure if your testing needs are deemed as ‘essential’. More information and key contacts for enquiries are displayed below. Please also refer to the guidance for clients, suppliers and contractors visiting the lab.

Tuesday, 17 August 2021

New Zealand has overnight entered a national lockdown with the entire country at Alert Level 4 – the highest level of lockdown – for at least three days from midnight with Auckland and the Coromandel Peninsula to remain in this level for 7 days. This follows the confirmation of a single community case of coronavirus (COVID). On Tuesday, 18 August, five cases of COVID were reported in the community and New Zealand is facing the Delta variant.

Following the government's announcement yesterday, we have continued to ensure our compliance with health authority guidelines and implemented a range of mitigations focused on protecting our staff, clients and the wider community. We wish to remind the community that these protective measures remain in place and we will continue to introduce new measures as and when required.

LABTEC will remain open for business as usual

Our laboratory remains open for business as usual (BAU), particularly to support our clients operating in 'essential services.' As New Zealand has not had a Level 4 Lockdown in more than a year, we will aim to do the best we can to support our clients during these challenging times.

Please don't hesitate to contact us by email or call (09) 526 5216 if you are unsure if your testing needs are deemed as ‘essential’. More information and key contacts for enquiries are displayed below. Please also refer to the following guidance for clients, suppliers and contractors visiting the lab.

Guidance for clients, suppliers and contractors visiting the lab

Work-from-home arrangements are in place for staff able to complete their roles remotely. Essential staff working at the lab are following additional hygiene and physical distancing practices. We ask for your continued patience as we work through what this latest lockdown means in the delivery of our laboratory services. Our response plan is as follows:

Clients dropping off samples
We ask that you first email us before arrival as we may not be at the lab at all times. This email is being monitored by our staff. A notice has also been placed at our front entrance and reception area that details the following measures:

  • Clients are required to leave samples in the reception area.
  • Members of staff have been instructed to maintain separation.
  • Use hand sanitiser and gloves provided (as required).
  • If clients wish to use facilities for any paperwork and labelling, we have set-up a dedicated table (front desk) that is cleaned after every use.
  • Staff have been instructed to wipe down handles, pens and any other items after use with 75% ethyl alcohol spray.

Couriers dropping samples and supplies
Again, we request that you email in advance as we may not be on site at all times. We also request:

  • Please leave samples/supplies in the reception area.
  • Notify staff that they have arrived by knocking at the glass window, which is cleaned regularly and after every use. Alternatively, please call us directly on (09) 526 5216 30 minutes in advance to your estimated arrival time.
  • Use hand sanitiser and gloves provided, as required.
